A technical SEO audit is the foundation of any successful SEO strategy. Without a technically sound website, even the best content and backlinks will fail to deliver the rankings you deserve.
Start with crawlability. Check your robots.txt file to ensure search engines can access your important pages. Verify your XML sitemap is submitted to Google Search Console and contains only canonical, indexable URLs.
Site speed is a confirmed ranking factor. Use Google PageSpeed Insights to measure your Core Web Vitals. LCP should be under 2.5 seconds, FID under 100 milliseconds, and CLS under 0.1.
Mobile-first indexing means Google primarily uses your mobile site for indexing. Ensure your site is fully responsive, text is readable without zooming, and buttons are easily tappable.
HTTPS is non-negotiable. Every page should load over HTTPS. Check for mixed content issues and ensure your SSL certificate is valid and properly configured.
URL structure matters. Use clean, descriptive URLs with target keywords. Avoid dynamic parameters and implement proper canonical tags to prevent duplicate content issues.
Internal linking distributes page authority throughout your site. Ensure every important page is reachable within 3 clicks from the homepage with descriptive anchor text.
Schema markup helps search engines understand your content. Implement Organization, LocalBusiness, FAQ, and Article schema types. Test your markup with Google's Rich Results Test tool.
Run comprehensive audits at least quarterly to catch new issues before they impact your rankings. Monitor Search Console regularly for crawl errors and security issues.
